Listen! Since the first edition of the guidebook in 2015, the Maltatal has blossomed from a former insider tip to a real climbing top spot. And not without reason: it offers a rich selection of first-class climbing and bouldering opportunities. With the new, completely revised 2nd edition, a comprehensive and up-to-date guide will be published for this wonderful valley with its fantastic destinations.
No matter whether you’re fidgeting and pulling in @christof_rauch
‘s bouldering test piece "The Source" (Fb 8b+) in the romantic Valley of the Kings, feeling "White Winds" (6c) blowing around your ears at the Gelbes Geheimnis or breathing high alpine air on the Plaisir-ridge of the Langkarscheid (IV+): in the „valley of falling water“ is something for almost everyone offered. Families and multi-pitch beginners will be delighted, among others, in the pleasure climbs of the Seenplatte (max V +) and in the Damm High-Arena. Child-friendly, flat meadows at the entrance and a via ferrata for beginners (A/B) it offers plenty options for the entire climbing family.
Three additional areas at the gates of the Maltatal valley give the climbing guide a whole new dimension: the Breitwand with its multi-pitch routes and the Jungfernsprung - seaclimbs directly above the water - at lake Millstätter See form a gentle contrast to the inner alpine Maltatal. And with the Danielsberg near Kolbnitz, if needed, another Malta-break-day can be filled.
Gerhard Schaar has compiled all relevant information for vertical adventures in the area in the sections bouldering, sport climbing & alpine climbing. On 336 pages he presents more than 500 sport climbing routes on 23 crags, about 300 boulder problems as well as all worth mentioning alpine routes.
